I know, dogs don’t climb trees!
However, my dog doesn’t know that!
I have a wonderful dog. His name is Felix and he is a Parson Russell terrier, aged 1½ year.
He is cute and fun and very vivid. And he goes nuts every time he sees a squirrel!
In the green area close to our house there are many squirrels, and every time Felix discovers one, he immediately tries to catch it. As squirrels do spend most of their time up in the trees, what mostly happens is that Felix runs to the tree and starts jumping up against the tree while barking.
He simply jumps up against the tree time and time again, and it’s increadible how high he can jump. It’s almost as if he’s mounted on springs and I’m enjoying it very much every time I see it.
I’ve often looked at the jumping dog and thought that allthough I know dogs don’t climb trees, mine doesn’t seem to know! They forgot to tell him! And it often reminds me of the law of attraction – if we believe that something isn’t possible, we are right. But if we do believe that something is possible, even though it doesn’t seem so, we are also right! And I have often thought that I wouldn’t be surprised if one day my dog would succeed in climbing a tree!
Yesterday my 10-year-old daughter was taking the dog for a walk. Suddenly my phone rang; it was my daughter saying “mummy, you gotta come, Felix is up in a tree and he cannot get down again”.
I got on my bike and hurried in the direction, she had told me – and I was met by the most amazing sight – my daughter was standing by a big tree waiting for me, and somewhere above her head I could see our dog – high up in the tree!!!
As I walked towards her, I took out my cell phone from my pocket – I couldn’t resist the temptation to take a couple of photoes – and I suspected no-one would believe this without proper proof! At least, I’m not sure I would!
I asked my daughter if she had in any way helped the dog climb up the tree, but she said no and told me how the dog had been chasing a squirrel on the ground, and when the squirrel jumbed up in the tree, the dog simply followed after!
As I stood by the tree, on my toes, stretching my arms up as high as I could, I couldn’t reach the dog, so he must have been at least 2-2½ m up in the tree – I wonder if he is partly cat?
My daughter is standing on a small hill and the tree with the dog is situated downhill, so the dog is even higher up in the tree than it looks!
While I stood there, on my toes, the dog succeeded in turning partly around. With one hand I managed to reach up and knock on a place where several thin branches were meeting, forming a kind of a small “platform”, and that made the dog jumb down to the platform. Then I could touch him and make him jump down into my arms. I’m glad he isn’t very heavy!
Both dog and daughter were immediately in good spirits again and wanted to continue their walk, while I returned on my bike.
I’m so much enjoying that, even though it’s not possible, I do have a dog who knows how to climb a tree!
And I cannot stop wondering whether I co-created this? Did my repeated thoughts about how one day doggy might succeed in getting up a tree make this possible? Did I manifest this?

Pernille, I LOVE the example Felix sets for not buying into "limits" or "rules"! What a champion for possibilities he is!! And an entertaining one at that. lol
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for taking the photos! Really great post - thanks for sharing it. :)
Yeahh, he is setting a great example, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteNext time I realize I'm limiting myself, I'm going to ask myself "would Felix do this?" - he-he, I can feel the relief already!
Thanks for reading and particularly for commenting :-)
Holy crow! Brilliant story! I think magic does happen around you, Pernille. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Monica, magic does happen around me, and the more aware I am of it, the more I see it :-)
ReplyDeleteActually, magic happens around everyone, doesn't it?
Thanks for commenting, Monica, very much appreciated!
