I know several LOA savvy people who reject the law of attraction. After a certain period of time they become so frustrated, annoyed or even angry with the law of attraction that they simply stop believing that it works.
Why does that happen? Well, I believe a major reason is that in more or less every book about the law of attraction it says that ”you can have everything you dream of, you can do everything you dream of and you can be everything you dream of”. Sounds intriguing, right?
So I’m probably not the only one who immediately started practicing the law of attraction in the area of my life with the heaviest challenges, trying to change things.
And I’m probably not the only one either who after several years of practice still isn’t ”totally satisfied” with that particular area of my life! Sure, I did manifest som very positive results from time to time in this specific area of my life, but the constant, stable, permanent results I wish for, still aren’t very evident ;-)
And yes, I did from time to time wonder whether it’s the law of attraction as such, that doesn’t work, or whether it’s just me, who cannot figure out how to make it work!!!!
But you know what? I think it’s neither! Today I believe there is something completely different at play!!
When you learn to drive a car, you start by taking driving lessons and learn some theoretical stuff. And then you have to pass some tests before you finally obtain your driver’s license (at least this is how it works in Denmark!). And then you have to learn how to drive ;-)
Learning how to drive for many people means first driving in calm areas outside rush hours. Bit by bit you gain more and more experience, and eventually you end up being able to drive in the middle of the largest city during rush hours.
But what I did with the law of attraction corresponds to getting inside a car, alone, driving in the middle of the largest city in rush hours, before even having acquired my driver’s license – you wouldn’t be surpriced if that didn’t go very well, wouldn’t you? - it sounds crazy, like madness, don’t you think?
And yet, that’s what many of us do, when we first learn about the law of attraction!!!
I think it would be so much better if we started by practicing the law of attraction in the areas of our life that are already smooth and easy. And started by attracting “less important stuff”. This way we could bit by bit become experienced, see results, and get the necessary faith that this works and the necessary trust, that “I can make this work”.
And once that’s accomplished, we would be much more ready to “go play with” the law of attraction in the more challenging areas of our lives.

Astute observation, Pernille, and great analogy! I think you hit the nail on the head with pointing out the early frustration many feel with law of attraction because of the lack of immediate, big results.
ReplyDeleteThanks for an insightful piece on this topic. :)

Yes, it's so much easier to believe in the law of attraction when you also see some evidence and get some good results from it!!!

Pernille
ReplyDeleteExactly! When I began using LOA I focused on manifesting parking spaces and green lights. While I have included bigger manifestations now, I continue to use parking spaces and green lights as reminders of the process.
Mange tak for a wonderful post

Susan, you are very wise! I would have liked to know this wisdom when I first learned about LOA, and I'm surely recommending this approach to LOA beginners in the future.

Great Analogy! I became a good driver as I drove around and practiced.... I became/become a good manifester as I practice!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Ellie, it all comes with the practice.
